El-P – Cancer for Cure and New Single

5 years after his last album, El-P is going to release Cancer for Cure May 22nd. I have been a fan for a few years and am eager to see what he does on his new label, Fat Possum. If “The Full Retard” is any indication of what is to come, this guy refuses to change or compromise. Also here is one of my favorites and the track that really made me an El-P fan, “Smithereens” . S/O to Sev Seveer for putting me on this years ago. Enjoy.

Big K.R.I.T. – 4evaNaDay Review / The Needle Drop

The Needle Drop is the absolute best album and track reviewer around. No gimmicks, no label backing, no bias, just real. Here is his review of Big K.R.I.T. – 4evaNaDay.  I have listened to this album a couple of times and am not sure if I like as much as Anthony. However, I do like to listen to things multiple times before I make a final decision. Also, here is my favorite track from the tape so far.

(Update)

I like it. I don’t love it.  I guess I don’t find the production very interesting. I go through phases of loving southern rap. I loved Big Boi’s Sir Luscious Left Foot… and Yelawolf’s Trunk Muzik because they were unique. I don’t think that K.R.I.T.’s rhymes can carry an album with a limited amount of catchy hooks or guest spots. The album as a whole felt boring as I listened to it all the way through. Lyrically, I know southern rappers will always talk about candy paint, cars, purple drink, and such, but it is exhausting after a while. 3 mixtapes full of that stuff without much variation is rough. Don’t get me wrong, I like this tape. I think that K.R.I.T. is a nice artist. I just don’t love it. The best tracks are “4evaNaDay Theme”, “Red Eye”, and”Down and Out”.

Beach House – “Myth”

AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I’m excited by this. In a year that has been a little disappointing music-wise, a new Beach House album is welcome news. Bloom is coming out May 15th which seems like forever from now, but we have “Myth” to hold the public over. Enjoy!
